The Averon Guest House's customer reviews analysis

The Averon Guest House has accrued a favorable reputation based on recent customer reviews, which highlight a consistent appreciation for its prime location, cleanliness, and the unique cultural experience it offers. A recurring theme in the feedback is the guest house’s evening music sessions conducted by the owner, Alan, which are frequently mentioned as one of the highlights of the guests' stay, providing insights into the Scottish culture and history. Despite some mentions of the physical space constraints, such as small room sizes and in some cases shared bathrooms, the overall customer sentiment remains positive, emphasizing the accommodations’ functionality and the charming Victorian architecture. Guests report that the staff, including Alan and the chef Arun, add a personalized touch to the service, enhancing their overall experience at the establishment.

Positive Feedback

Positive feedback for Averon Guest House is anchored around several noteworthy features that contribute to a meaningful and enjoyable stay. First and foremost, guests praise the central location, which offers easy access to public transport and walkability to Edinburgh's key attractions. Furthermore, cleanliness is consistently recognized, with clean rooms and amenities reassuring guests during their stay. The personal engagement of the owner, Alan, is another distinct highlight; his evening music sessions are not only entertaining but serve as an educational gateway into Scottish culture and lore. Affirmations of the guest house’s hospitable atmosphere are also frequent, with genuine appreciation for the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff. Additionally, the guest house’s retention of its Victorian character provides a unique, nostalgic ambience that seems to resonate well with the clientele.

Concerns and Threads

While the bulk of the feedback for Averon Guest House remains positive, there are a few areas where the guest experience shows room for improvement. Primarily, guests have commented on the small size of rooms and beds, which, although clean and adequately fulfilling their intended purpose, could impact the comfort of those accustomed to more spacious accommodations. Additionally, the offering of a 'simple continental breakfast' suggests there might be room for enhancement in terms of variety and dietary options. Another minor drawback for some guests is the facility's older features, such as shared bathrooms, which may not align with the preferences of all potential visitors. It is evident that while these concerns are not detrimental to the overall positive reputation of the guest house, they do represent areas where attention and incremental improvements could further refine the guest experience.

A great place to stay for location. Rooms are a bit small but clean and served their purpose. Breakfast is a simple continental breakfast. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Most of all, we enjoyed the evening music coupled with the videos and learning experience. Recommend for a reasonable stay!

We had a wonderful stay here! Our room and bed were small, but it was advertised that way, so it was not a problem. And the room was clean and served its purpose. The location was great - it was easy to get to the buses and the haymarket train station, and pretty much everything in old town was walkable, which was really nice. The highlight for us for sure was the Scottish music that Alan, the host, played every night in the lounge. We were there 4 nights and the songs and videos were different every night! It was clear that playing music brings Alan joy, and that joy was infectious. It was so neat to hear a variety of songs, and to see through video some areas and events in scotland that we didnt have a chance to see during this visit 🙂 I would definitely stay here again!

Lovely Victorian type stay . The building itself is maintained in its original architectural structure and interiors which is amazing. The owner is a very passionate person about Scotland and it’s rich history . There is free Scottish music for the guests in the evenings by the Owner . Alan the owner sings beautifully for the guests in the evenings as part of this Guest house’s tradition, he is a fantastic person. Nice songs regarding Scotland, its stories and even about the Loch Ness Monster. The story of this lovely guest house too was shared with us by Alan … Overall the service was brilliant. All the staff we met were friendly including Arun , the chef who served breakfast etc . Great location, walkable distances to some main tourist spots from here . And we even took a photo with Alan this morning… We had a memorable stay there… Thanks to the entire team .
