Le Bernardin's customer reviews analysis

Le Bernardin's reputation as a high-end dining establishment continues to attract diners expecting an exquisite culinary experience, underscored by its Michelin rating. The restaurant's commitment to service is lauded as top-notch and highly attentive, with a strong emphasis on the quality and presentation of dishes. Yet, despite the praise, there appears to be a dichotomy in diners' reviews regarding the food's execution, with some dishes meeting high expectations while others fall short, particularly the signature seafood offerings which have been described as overly salty, dry, or overcooked. The ambiance of the restaurant is noted as quiet, which can impact the dining experience depending on patrons' preferences. The menu's diversity, including its blend of French and Asian influences, is received with mixed feelings, where some find it a delightful fusion, while others perceive a lack of balance. Additionally, the aspect of time constraints imposed during meal selection and the quality of certain amenities such as table linen have negatively impacted some guests' experiences.

Positive Feedback

Positive feedback about Le Bernardin centers around several key aspects. Service quality is consistently highlighted, with staff members described as polished, attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, indicating a well-trained and customer-oriented team. The presentation of dishes and the creativity employed in their preparation receive high praise, suggesting a dedication to both the aesthetic and gastronomic elements of the dining experience. Many diners have been impressed with the culinary innovation, as one guest praises the innovative use of beef bourguignon sauce on a seafood dish. The wine pairing option with the tasting menu is noted to complement the dishes effectively and enhance the overall enjoyment. Customers also appreciate the thoughtful portion sizes and find the set menu with the option to choose different dishes positively contributes to a personalized and satisfying meal progression.

Concerns and Threads

On the downside, the expectations set by Le Bernardin's Michelin star status have left some diners disappointed with their experience. Criticism tends to focus on the execution of some of the seafood dishes, with descriptions ranging from salty or dry to overcooked, undermining the restaurant's seafood-centric reputation. A feeling of being rushed due to time constraints imposed on meal selection disrupts the dining experience for some. The condition and cleanliness of amenities such as table linen appear to detract from the overall high-end atmosphere one would expect. Additionally, despite the restraint's reputation for a quiet ambiance, some patrons have encountered a busier and less romantic atmosphere than anticipated, diminishing the sense of exclusivity. Price is also a concern, with some guests feeling that the value does not adequately reflect the quality of the food and overall dining experience.

The reservation is a bit hard to get so I snapped a late lunch time. Strict dress code which is fine, love to dress up for special occasions. The service is definitely top notch. Everyone is so attentive, it’s a bit quiet in the restaurants so not much a vibe, everyone was silent. We went for the highest tasting menu, since it seems like has the best value and got to taste their best and signature dishes. Lobster and scallop dish are way too salty. the halibut is too dry. My favorite is the Dover sole, perfect balanced flavor. There’s a mix of flavors, It’s very satisfying after the meal, $315 price tag is not too bad for 3 star, definitely worth trying at least once.

I had high expectations for this restaurant. Pros: The appetizers were very tasty, my favourite was the complimentary soup. The portions were just right. I liked that you have different options for your dinner. It was kinda like a set menu but you have the freedom to choose different dishes for your meal. The flavours were good for some of the dishes, I felt like they were trying to play with different cuisines. It was not only French but a little bit of Asian, for example the shrimps with coconut sauce. A bit of Caribbean with the fruits added to the dessert. Cons: Although the service was good I felt rushed because you have to decide all your options at the beginning of your meal with the little time provided. They served bread but it’s cold. Some of the dishes tasted good but it wasn’t like wow either. Some of the desserts were an interesting take on Asian styled desserts. But the balance of sweet and sour was off as the dessert was sour. The linen on the table is old and worn out. It was not comfortable to touch nor look at as there were lint all over the middle of the table. Being a high end restaurant, we were expecting a lot more for attention to details.

Was a great ending to a wonderful anniversary celebration. Which is now a tradition for us. A day in the city and Lunch at Le Bernadin. Our server was truly a delight. Was jealous of my husband's meal somehow he picked even more delicious options than I did. And he ordered for me and my meal was delicious. For a seafood focused restaurant, they did an amazing job with the guinea hen. Thanks again for a wonderful meal. See you again next year God willing.
