The Sandyford Lodge's customer reviews analysis

The Sandyford Lodge Hotel has garnered a generally favorable reputation among its guests, primarily due to its competent service, convenient location, and value for money. The customer experience at the Lodge is shaped by its proximity to a variety of attractions including pubs, shops, museums, and the OVO Hydro arena, making it an ideal choice for those attending events there. Staff friendliness and helpfulness are consistently praised, contributing positively to the hotel's reputation. Notably, concerns have been raised regarding the condition and maintenance of some of the rooms, indicating a need for refurbishment. The newly appointed management has been mentioned, suggesting that improvements may be underway. Despite some drawbacks, the overarching sentiment is that the accommodation provided meets or exceeds the expectations relative to the price point.

Positive Feedback

Customer feedback highlights several strong points about Sandyford Lodge Hotel. Foremost is the excellent service provided by the staff, who are frequently described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating, even allowing for early check-ins when needed. The convenient location is another key positive with its ambiance of a lively yet serene neighborhood within walking distance from prominent venues like the Hydro. Several guests also note the cleanliness of rooms and the peaceful sleep they enjoyed, undisturbed by street noise. The food served, particularly the breakfast offerings at a neighboring hotel, has been met with approval. Finally, guests appreciate the opportunity for cost savings in comparison to other accommodations, underscoring the hotel's value for money.

Concerns and Threads

While positive aspects are evident, Sandyford Lodge Hotel also faces criticism that primarily concerns its physical facilities. A number of guests have reported that the rooms, particularly certain basement accommodations, show signs of wear and require renovation. Issues such as dampness, mold, malfunctioning radiators, and maintenance oversights, like a jammed shower plughole, have been mentioned. Additionally, challenges with the room temperature control detract from comfort. The parking situation is another recurrent complaint, with high costs and limited availability being a disadvantage. These negative experiences suggest that the hotel would benefit from addressing the maintenance and updating of their premises to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Fantastic service and very friendly & helpful staff! The hotel is located in a very lively and nice area of Glasgow (bus stop, great pubs, restaurants, shops, museums and the park nearby). However, the house is in a quiet street, so no worries over a good nights sleep. The (bath)room has seen better days, but you get very good value for your money still. We had a lovely stay! Thank you Anthony & colleagues!

Though the service at reception was very nice and friendly, and the hotel is in a really serene street, the room (18) and bathroom are very worn and needing a bit of a renovation. The curtains are hanging on by about 5 hooks and let in 100% of the sun in the morning. The parking situation isn't great, with the nearest overnight car park charging £12. You can get away with free on-street after 6pm until 8am, but it is £4 and hour before that point so try to arrive after 6pm. Nearby activities: Great walking distance from the Hydro, 20 minutes max! Safety: The internal stairs are very steep on the way down, be wary of this and we all nearly went heaf first a few times.

Stayed here visiting Glasgow for a concert. Reasonably priced we were disappointed to be shown our room in the basement. Musty smell on entering we found damp and mould on one of the walls. On inspection looking through the window we found a overgrown weedy area out the back which if tidied up would be a asset to the building. On return from the concert we hastily made our way to bed armed with a extra cover provided by the nice fella working the graveyard shift. On waking after a quick shower I proceeded to get dressed for breakfast only to find out the radiator had leaked onto my only pair of jeans and totally soaked the legs. I was left with no choice but to wear them we made our way to reception and report it. The same fella was apologetic and didn't charge us for one of the breakfasts which itself was lovely served at the nearby hotel of the same name. Would I stay again yes but certainly not in room 1
