Clarks Edinburgh's customer reviews analysis

An analysis of recent customer reviews for Clarks reveals a dichotomy in experiences, affecting the brand's overall reputation. On one hand, customers appreciate the quality and value for money that Clarks shoes offer, with loyalty spanning decades for some. The staff is often highlighted for their friendliness and helpfulness, with specific instances where employees went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction during special occasions or in finding the perfect fit. Clarks also seems to maintain a positive environment in terms of store layout, product choices, and attractive discounts, which contributes towards positive customer experiences. However, inconsistencies in customer service quality have been noted, particularly with regards to staff engagement and attentiveness. Experiences of being ignored or unacknowledged by sales assistants, coupled with underwhelming interactions and limited assistance, convey a portion of dissatisfaction among consumers. These negative instances underscore a necessity for Clarks to address customer service training and ensure a uniformly positive experience across all branches.

Positive Feedback

Positive feedback for Clarks centers around several key aspects. Customers express a high level of satisfaction with the product quality, suggesting that the longevity and comfort of Clarks shoes are significant factors in their purchasing decisions. Additionally, value for money, especially during sales events, is a strong point, enabling customers to feel they are making a wise investment. The customer service experiences are often personalized and memorable, with staff commended for their polite and helpful nature, as well as for making special efforts as in the case of purchasing a child's first pair of shoes. The wide array of choices, new arrivals, and store layout further add to the positive shopping experience, with the presence of friendly and proactive staff like Shazia, Ranjan, and Vaishnavi enhancing customer satisfaction.

Concerns and Threads

On the flip side, Clarks has received criticism regarding some customers' experiences with service in their stores. Instances of poor acknowledgement and greeting by sales assistants upon entering the store have been mentioned, causing frustration and discomfort for customers looking for assistance. Reports of staff not engaging proactively with customers, not offering alternatives, or appearing disinterested, suggest a deficiency in customer service training or potentially understaffing issues. Such negative encounters appear to be significant enough that customers have opted to shop at neighboring stores instead, indicating a direct impact on sales and customer retention. These service concerns mark areas that could be causing harm to Clarks's reputation and may warrant investigative attention to uphold their traditionally high service standards.

Got a pair o shoes yesterday in the sale. %0% off so was very happy. I buy Clarks often as they are good value for money and look cool. Been wearing them for about 45 years now :-) (Not the same pair!) I was served by a very friendly young man in the basement, men's department. A real delight to deal with, very easy going and helpful despite being very busy and in demand. There always seems to be good staff. I was passing today and popped in to see if there were any more bargains, nothing in my size but the young man remembered me and was very friendly and polite. I enjoy the service and Clarks and like the shoes.

Went a few days ago to get a pair of shoes that my husband seen online. I thought of getting them for his upcoming birthday.Rather than buy them online I entered the shop on my way to work. The Shop just opened therefore empty. And out of the 2 sales assistant that were there no acknowledgement or neither a greeting was given. Fine I get that busy time of the year but still. I make my way downstairs into the Man and children section. Another sale assistant there , again no a greeting no acknowledgement. I started wondering around the display to see if I could find the shoes I was looking for. A good five minutes passed by, and the situation started to get awkward. A very loud silence and still not a word from sales assistant. I could not find the shoes, I just figured that they didn't have them. I felt very uncomfortable to ask as the lady looked and seemed very annoyed by my presence although it was very very clear I was looking for something specific.I looked into the children section to see anything interesting for my son as well. But then decided to leave as I didn't want to spend my money there. Went to the shoe shop next door. And there were very helpful and that store was much much busier. I was truly disappointed as I have always been shopping at Clark's and the costumer service as always been spot on.

Visited to get my children's feet measured and new shoes. Only one member of staff in the children's/men's section but lots of customers so asked politely for assistance upstairs and last reluctantly came down. Staff didn't engage much with my children to help get good measurements or appear interested in selling shoes, taking long time to collect items and offering no alternatives. Very disappointed as have had good service from this shop in the past.
