Armstrongs's customer reviews analysis

Evaluating the reviews for Armstrongs reveals a mixed reception in regards to their products and services. A portion of the feedback highlights a decline in quality and customer satisfaction, citing instances of hard, refried chips, bland and lukewarm food, and even gastrointestinal discomfort following a meal. Such negative experiences may imply a change in management or operational procedures, evidenced by suspicions of new ownership and inconsistent food quality. Customer service issues are also mentioned, with reports of unresponsive communication when attempting to resolve missing items from delivery orders. However, these critiques are contrasted by a number of reviews that commend the food quality, with references to delicious meals, good portion sizes, and high hygiene standards. Repeat patrons and positive word-of-mouth recommendations suggest that Armstrongs retains a loyal customer base that appreciates its offerings.

Positive Feedback

In spite of some criticism, Armstrongs receives numerous positive comments from its customer base. Several reviewers enthusiastically endorse the fish and chips, particularly the jumbo cod, which is described as 'fantastic' and 'gorgeous,' solidifying its stature as a crowd-pleaser. The ample portion sizes receive appreciation for their value, being able to satisfactorily feed families and, as one reviewer notes, 'half an army.' The chippy is recognized for its 'top rate hygiene' and 'nice and tasty' offerings, contributing to a noteworthy dining experience. Such praise, particularly from those willing to travel specifically for Armstrongs' fare, emphasizes a segment of the clientele who remains pleased with the establishment's traditional offerings.

Concerns and Threads

Armstrongs faces notable criticisms that question the consistency and overall excellence of their offerings. Recurring issues include an apparent drop in food quality, with several reviews stating that the fish and chips now are 'hard', 'bland', and 'taste like they were refried.' Customer experience also suffers due to service-related shortcomings, such as the absence of carrier bags for takeout orders, lack of warmth in food, and missing items from delivery orders coupled with poor follow-up customer service. Embodied in their complaints is a shared disappointment that this once highly-regarded establishment has seemingly deteriorated, with particular emphasis on the potential implications of a management change.

Bought the fish and chips today and I definitely got an unhappy vibe from the server. Firstly, she gave me my fish chips and curry without putting them in a carrier bag(I would have paid if needed be for the bag). Reached home and saw the chips were proper hard (see picture) It looks and tasted like they were refried. I’ve been buying fish and chips from Armstrong for years and have never had food this bad before. I’ve had family come from abroad and have bought fish and chips from here for them to taste. Never had this bad before. Looks like their quality have gone down.

14/08/23: disappointing lunch today. Ordered on UberEats. No peas available to order. Had pudding chips & gravy. Looked like a half portion of chips and everything was just warm. 01/06/23: Sausage, chips, peas & gravy! Delicious, good sized portion!
