Viju K Peter's customer reviews analysis

The overall reputation of Spire Liverpool Hospital, as reflected by the provided customer reviews, appears to be one with a dichotomy of experiences. On one hand, several reviews give commendation to the hospital for its caring and professional staff, comprehensive patient care, and good facilities. Notable positive remarks include the friendly and reassuring nature of personnel ranging from receptionists to surgeons, as well as the high quality of the catering services. Additionally, the attention to detail and responsiveness to patients' emotional needs post-surgery have been highlighted as exemplary. Conversely, there is a strand of customer feedback pointing to significant dissatisfaction, primarily directed at certain departments such as orthopaedics. Complaints of feeling 'dismissed' and 'gaslit' by physicians, coupled with reports of rude and unprofessional behaviour, suggest a troubling inconsistency in service delivery. The experiences of receiving incorrect or misleading medical advice and administrative inefficiencies, such as surgery cancellations and poor complaint resolutions, taint the hospital's image. These negative experiences seed doubts about the hospital's efficacy and dedication to patient care.

Positive Feedback

Pertaining to the positive aspects of Spire Liverpool Hospital, several key themes emerge from the customer testimonies. Firstly, the staff's compassionate and empathetic approach is consistently lauded, particularly by patients undergoing surgeries who praise the emotional support they receive. The professionalism and expertise of consultants such as Mr. Fountain and Mrs. Banks receive individual recognition, with patients expressing gratitude for attentive and effective treatment. Equally, the friendly and warm reception provided by front-of-house staff such as Betty, Claire, and Beth sets a welcoming tone for patients' visits. The hospital's ability to provide a comforting and homely atmosphere, even for patients with extended treatment histories, contributes to a perception of exceptional customer service. Moreover, the diligence and informative nature of the clinical staff during the pre-operative and post-operative phases reinforce the hospital's reputation for comprehensive patient care. The organisation and attention to detail, from analyzing meals to post-op physiotherapy support, construct an environment that patrons find conducive to recovery.

Concerns and Threads

The negative aspects spotlighted in customer feedback for Spire Liverpool Hospital are focused on particular interactions and experiences that have marred the overall satisfaction levels. There are reports of unprofessional conduct from specific professionals, such as Dr. Pothula, whose dismissive and allegedly rude treatment has been distressing for patients. Skepticism regarding orthopaedic treatments and surgeons has arisen due to patients experiencing a sense of being undervalued and misinformed, impacting the trust in medical consultations. A recurring theme involves administrative inefficiencies, including alarming incidents of last-minute surgery cancellations and perceived inattention to pre-operative requirements, causing significant distress and inconvenience. Financial concerns also feature in the critiques, with allegations of excessive fees for brief consultations, underscoring a view that the hospital prioritizes profit over patient wellbeing. These concerns collectively paint a picture of inconsistency within the facility, limiting its standing as a wholly reliable healthcare provider.

I've recently had a total hip replacement operation here and stayed in for two nights. From my initial consultation in May with Mr Fountain, to my aftercare now, I can honestly say I have been looked after so well. The reception staff are pleasant. Pre-op nurse (Carol) was thorough explaining the details and making sure I understood everything, answering any questions I had. Nursing staff introduced themselves on each shift. I had a few upsetting moments after the operation and I was treated with compassion from the care staff and sorted out very quickly. The catering staff were happy to advise on choice of meals and I enjoyed all of them. The theatre staff and anaesthetist were really friendly and reassuring. Physio exercises were explained and they worked with me at my pace, giving encouragement at both sessions. Even the porter who wheeled me out when I was leaving, advised the best way of getting into the car as I was really apprehensive about this bit. Any questions I've had along my journey have been answered and no question was deemed to be 'a daft one' I will always be extremely grateful to Mr Fountain for many reasons ....1) firstly listening to me (when others didn't !!)...2) giving me my confidence back...3) helping me regain my independence...4) making me smile and be happy again. Thank you all so very much.

Very mixed experiences with this hospital. Firstly I've only had dealings with bone and joint centre and radiology department. The receptionist (Betty) is amazing and greets everyone with a friendly warmth. Had great experience with rheumatology dept after years of trouble getting listened to Dr McLaren was very understanding and got to the root of my issues quickly. Sent for various scans and x-rays and all staff at radiology department were amazing. Hip issue required referral to orthopaedics and this is where my problems occured. After such great treatment from other departments I was shocked and disappointed by how I have been treated (or not treated) by orthopaedic Drs at the spire. Despite having a clear labrum tear both drs were very dismissive and didn't seem to listen to my answers. Repeatedly asking me where my pain was then dismissing said pain . Both stated incorrectly that labrum repair surgery or arthroscopic surgery was not very successful (data suggests it is) and that it's not advised as "tears are common and often do not cause pain" I was then told I'd "simply have to learn to live with it". I left both appointments feeling totally dismissed and gaslit and feel I was given totally incorrect information. If your drs are not specialists or comfortable doing a particular procedure they should say so and refer ppl to someone who is! They should not provide inaccurate information by telling a patient the surgery is not successful in most patients (which is just not true).

My experience at the Spire Liverpool Hospital has been very positive in every phase from my first examination to the final surgery. The ambient is very well organized with staff friendly, respectful and utterly professional, visibly happy to do their work. I would like to thank the consultant/surgeon Mrs Banks, and all the staff that has looked after me during my short permanence from the very kind cathering personnel to all the nurses expecially Rachel, Alix, Emily, Julia.
