The Old Red Bus Station's customer reviews analysis

The analysis of recent customer reviews for The Old Red Bus Station suggests that the establishment offers a distinct experience, particularly for those seeking vegan dining options and techno music events. Patrons who appreciate a techno vibe find the venue conducive, as it hosts events featuring niche techno artists. The vegan food receives mixed reviews, with most customers praising the quality and pricing, although inconsistencies in preparation have been noted. The swift response to customer complaints and generous compensation for a food issue highlight the staff's commitment to customer satisfaction. There is a recurrent theme of customers enjoying the variety on offer and acknowledging the quality service provided by the staff. The ambiance, described as quirky and informal, contributes to a positive environment that is welcoming to different demographics, including introverts. Overall, while not devoid of critique, The Old Red Bus Station maintains a solid reputation anchored by its vegan offerings, themed music events, and customer-centered service.

Positive Feedback

The Old Red Bus Station has garnered considerable positive feedback from customers, particularly for its vegan cuisine and unique musical atmosphere. Vegan offerings such as burgers and wings have been highlighted for their taste and quality, with the 'Mac got Fat' burger and vanilla milkshake receiving special mention. The full menu and culinary diversity, including the poutine, are commended for adding variety to the vegan dining scene. Positive remarks extend to the pricing, considered reasonable, especially with deals like 2 mains for £12 and themed discounts on beer. The staff's service is also a strong point, described as fast, friendly, and accommodating to special requests and dietary needs, enhancing the overall dining experience. Furthermore, the venue's atmosphere, characterized by respect among patrons and a relaxing, if unusual, decor, makes it a recommended destination for both social events and casual dining in Leeds.

Concerns and Threads

Despite many positive aspects, The Old Red Bus Station has encountered some criticisms which are crucial for prospective customers to consider. An isolated incident involving an unsatisfactory burger reveals potential for occasional lapses in food quality. This particular case involved a change in ingredients that significantly detracted from the meal's flavor, resulting in customer disappointment and a necessary engagement with staff to rectify the issue. Although it was resolved with compensatory offerings, the manager's absence during the complaint process was noted. Another point of contention comes from the venue's music tastes; the strong emphasis on techno music may not accommodate all customer preferences. Additionally, the decor of the toilets, likened to a scene from the film Trainspotting, might be off-putting to some visitors. These elements suggest that while the venue excels in many respects, there is room for improvement in consistency of food quality and in ensuring the atmosphere is universally appealing.

Overall it’s not a wonderful place for music events. It’s very techno vibe which I like but may not be suited for everyone. Fortunately Rogue Puppet play quite frequently there which is alright and suit their purpose, since not many people go to their events which I don’t understand cos they have really cool techno artists as guests. Have no clue about the restaurant part, only went there for techno and was always a good time.

Unusual experience (quite long sorry!) - all the food is vegan, the place is quite big and we did not find the background music too loud as other reviews said it would be (we did go on a quiet night though). I ordered the 'Now then mush' burger and my friend had the 'Hellfire' burger. Her's was ok (not amazing but not bad either) mine was really bad, so bad I couldn't finish it. The sweet potato side salad I had with it was really good. I said something to the barman because I thought it must have been a mistake given the generally good reviews of the food I'd seen. The barman went back and forth between his manager and eventually suggested it must be just me that doesn't like it - not to my taste. I convinced him to try the burger patty and he spat it out into a napkin it was so bad. He took it back to the chef who realised it was an ingredient he had changed that day because he ran out of the normal stuff which had made it taste bad. They then offered us another free burger - we chose the 'Mac got Fat', we got a free milkshake (vanilla), a free beer and a free coke. I'm really glad they believed me in the end but I had to convince the barman to try my food. The manager never came over to speak to us which would have been better than sending the barman over at least 4 times before it could be resolved and I can only assume this was because the manager did not take our complaint seriously at first. The replacement burger was good and the vanilla milkshake is excellent. I would go back to try other things as this place is good value for money vegan food in the centre of Leeds. 2 mains for £12 at certain times is a really good deal. The bus station brew beer was 2 for £5 before a certain time and it's really nice. Can't justify giving them 5 stars because the original burger was so bad! (Although looks like this was due to a mistake but the chef should be trying the food if using something different as an ingredient!). I am definitely going back for a milkshake if nothing else!
