Roti Grill's customer reviews analysis

Roti Grill appears to present a dichotomous perspective amongst customers, with some praising the Indian cuisine, specifically the Chicken Makhani and Chicken Biryani, and the concept of Texas-sized portions, while others provide critical feedback on food quality and portion sizes. A recurrent positive sentiment lies in the restaurant's pricing and the offering of value with reasonable prices and 'combos'. Regular customers commend the service and food quality consistency, with the restaurant being recommended for those new to Indian cuisine. Customers appreciate the option of varying spice levels, vegetarian variety, and the clean environment. However, recurring negative feedback illustrates dissatisfaction with aspects such as the spottiness of service, the dining space's ambiance, and the compromised food experience when ordering closer to closing time. The adaptation of Indian cuisine to cater to an American palate with fusion-style offerings is a matter of personal preference, attracting some while disappointing purists seeking authentic Indian flavors. Moreover, there's consistent criticism concerning the food quantity with regards to price, with the Texas-sized portions not meeting expectations for some.

Positive Feedback

Positive feedback for Roti Grill frequently highlights the taste and quality of certain dishes, such as the Chicken Makhani and Chicken Biryani, which garner specific praise from satisfied customers. The concept of Texas-sized portions is appreciated by those seeking value, although the execution of this concept is sometimes debated. Many reviews underscore the cleanliness of the premises and an easy-to-understand menu. The restaurant's service is described as quick by some diners, and the provision of varying spice levels is applauded. Additionally, the restaurant has attracted positive notice for its selection of vegetarian options and for being an excellent introduction to Indian cuisine for non-Indian patrons.

Concerns and Threads

Critical assessments of Roti Grill often point to a discord between the quantity of food provided, particularly in Texas-sized portions, with customers expecting more substantial servings for the premium price paid. The quality of the food, especially when ordered through delivery services or nearer to closing time, has been observed to deteriorate, leading to overcooked or subpar meals. Some customers have noted that the flavors and preparation styles do not align with traditional Indian culinary expectations, highlighting an inclination towards a more indo-American fusion that may not appeal to all. The atmosphere of the dining space, as well as inconsistent service quality, also feature among the negative aspects mentioned, potentially detracting from the overall dining experience.

Love the food - particularly the Chicken Makhani (butter chicken) is a family favorite. Prices for Indian food and beverages are reasonable. Prefer the Texas sized entrees.

This is probably the best counter-serve Indian restaurant in town. Nearly all of the main dishes are excellent and the naan is the best around. Service is a little spotty and the space feels pretty over the hill, but the food makes up for it. Unfortunately, the hefty premiums added to menu item prices on delivery partners makes this a dine-in only option for me.

Super clean and easy to order/understand menu. Not a true Indian cuisine, more like an indo-American fusion spot. Though it has solely Indian items, it’s styled like a “chipotle” styled Indian food. Quick service. The dishes aren’t spicy at all, we got the TEXAS size (highly rec sizing it TEXAS style for $2-3 more) paneer makhani with basmati rice & garlic naan. I got a medium for spice level, but I would recommend getting spicy (if you are used to Indian food) bc the medium was unexpectedly sweet for an entree… the garlic naan wasn’t the traditional naan, it was a garlic sauce poured over the plain naan. I didn’t mind it but I wouldn’t recommend this dish. That being said, we also got the samosa combo (veg & chicken) and the chicken biryani with raita (Indian yogurt) which I highly recommend. I would get the biryani without the raisins and cashews, but that’s a personal preference. The biryani was very flavorful and I really appreciated that they use chicken breast, not chicken thigh meat. Super generous with the amount of chicken pieces in the biryani. Good price for a quick lunch spot in the area. Vegetarian options: Paneer, saag, chole
