Red Dog Saloon's customer reviews analysis

The reputation of Red Dog Saloon - Liverpool Restaurant is somewhat mixed based on the reviews provided. Many customers praise the establishment for its warm and friendly staff, along with its vibrant ambiance that embraces an Old Western American aesthetic. There appears to be a consensus on the restaurant's ability to serve ample portions, with a particular emphasis on diverse meat platters that are generally well-received for their flavor and preparation. Regular mention of tender and well-seasoned meats suggests that when the kitchen gets it right, it leaves a lasting positive impression. However, there are concerns arising from customer experiences where the food quality did not meet expectations, with specific criticisms addressing the preparation of certain dishes, such as undercooked mozzarella sticks, overly greasy wings, and bland Caesar salads. Service speed and order accuracy also detract from the dining experience for some patrons.

Positive Feedback

Positive experiences at Red Dog Saloon - Liverpool Restaurant largely tout the friendly service and engaging atmosphere that manages to replicate the feel of an American Western saloon. The standout positive aspect is the food's generous portion sizes and the rich taste that many of the meat dishes like the brisket, ribs, and burgers impart. Customers indicate that when the food is cooked properly, it can indeed be a delight, with descriptors like 'perfectly cooked', 'full of flavor', and 'mouthwatering' recurring in the feedback. Patrons also appreciate the extra touches like frosted beer glasses and are generally impressed with the meat-heavy platters such as the USS Wisconsin and USS Kentucky. The novelty of all-you-can-eat wings, despite some operational hiccups, and the excitement for upcoming additions like a nightclub are other aspects that positively influence customer impressions.

Concerns and Threads

Negative feedback concerning Red Dog Saloon - Liverpool Restaurant highlights several areas for improvement. Customers report dissatisfaction with some food items like cold and solid mozzarella sticks, underwhelming Caesar salad, rubbery burnt ends, and fried food that did not live up to expectations in a smokehouse setting. Quality and preparation inconsistencies are pointed out – from lack of flavorsome sauces to overcooked meat, leading to mixed dining experiences. Service speed is another concern, with meals arriving slowly even on less busy evenings. Errors in order management, resulting in incorrect or unwanted items being served and charged for, also contribute to the less favorable reviews. While pricing is acknowledged as slightly high, it is the perceived value for money with respect to food quality that some customers question.

A birthday no-no. Not the birthday meal I was hoping for. Friendly staff but sadly the food was a major disappointment. For £50 we got Mozzarella sticks that weren’t cooked (it should be stringy and warm but instead it was solid and cold). The source it came with was cold and tasteless. We ordered a brisket which was okay but definitely not worth £18.50! Luckily the brisket mustard sauce came in a separate container as it did not compliment the brisket whatsoever. The Caesar salad was the biggest disappointment of all. For £10.50, you get a plate full of lettuce, some shoved parmesan on top with 4 big pieces of croutons. How do you charge £10.50 for that? The dressing is nothing else but two pots of strange tasting mayonnaise. It seems all about quantity rather than quality. The fries were okay but without any seasoning. The best thing about it was the friendly staff and lovely music but the food and the cost absolutely ruined the birthday experience for sure.

Excellent BBQ restaurant. Been on my list to visit for a very long time, but just had not got round to it. Glad I finally made it. It was a Saturday night, so very busy. We were able to get a seat just fine however and ordered a drink and our meal relativelt quickly, despite the busyness! The food was excellent, well presented and cooked right through. We ordered the USS Wisconsin platter for 2, there was a mountain of food - and we ordered extra fries, which were unnecessary!). The burgers were fantastic, and the food well cooked without being overdone or charred. I have never had pit bean before so that was something new. We were too full after this for a dessert but not disappointed as the meal was spot on. Will definitely be visiting again.

Came here on a Wednesday evening and was left disappointed with the food and the speed of service. Note the staff were very friendly. Once we were seated, we waited around 20 minutes before our order was taken. I went for the wings with it being wing Wednesday and was told I had 1 and a half hours to eat as many as I liked. This sounds a lot, but given it then took 30 mins for the first bowl to arrive, and then a subsequent 30 mins for the second bowĺ, you're not going to go over the top with them. Admittedly, the bowl is 12 half wings, so a good amount per bowl. They are also fried, which I was saddened to see, as I thought this was meant to be a smokehouse, and smoked wings are a lot nicer than fried. Fried meant I was feeling a bit sickly after the second bowl, so I stopped there. I also didn't find them overly flavoursome, I could mainly taste the grease. My partner went for the prawns, and the burnt end mash. Maybe an oversight on our part, but the prawns came fried, not grilled, so she really didn't enjoy them and didn't finish them. The burnt ends were like rubber. We couldn't cut them, never mind chew them. We did complain about these, and they were taken off the bill, which we appreciated. Overall, our experience wasn't the best, and we won't be heading back.

About Red Dog Saloon

Bbq Restaurants
Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky taste to the meat. The process could take many hours, leaving the meat tender and juicy. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We smoke for up to 16 hours using the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour.
