Hial Bahia's customer reviews analysis

The overall company reputation of Spire Murrayfield Hospital, based on the provided reviews, is predominantly positive with several mentions of high-quality patient care, professionalism, and cleanliness. The hospital is praised for its fantastic standards and attentiveness from various staff members including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and receptionists. Several reviews indicated that the care given made patients feel at ease, highlighting individual attention as if they were the only patient, and the immaculate state of facilities. There are mentions of excellent post-surgery care, with professionals being readily available to answer questions and concerns. However, there are instances of negative experiences too, with particular mention of administrative issues regarding billing and insurance, and a case of dismissive behavior by a medical professional post-surgery. Recommendations for the hospital are common, and despite a few setbacks, the recurring theme suggests a high level of patient satisfaction with the services provided by the hospital.

Positive Feedback

Key positive aspects expressed in the customer feedback focus on the exceptional level of care provided by the staff at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. Cleanliness and attention to detail are frequently noted, with hospital rooms and bathrooms described as spotless. The quality and choice of meals also receive high praise, with some patients even sharing photos of their meals and recovery aids, such as moon boots. The personnel, from nurses and anesthetists to physiotherapists and administrative staff like Eden handling discharges, are commended for their professionalism, thorough care, and the ability to provide comfort to patients. Surgeries, including green light laser surgery and ankle surgery, have been highlighted as successfully performed, attesting to the skill and expertise of the surgeons. Consultant Dr. Paul Dewart and others are specifically mentioned for their phenomenal attention to patient needs. These distinctive experiences underline the tailored individual care and dedication by the hospital staff contributing significantly to its good reputation.

Concerns and Threads

The negative aspects of customer feedback primarily involve administrative and communication issues. One patient reports a distressing experience with billing, where there was confusion over insurance coverage, resulting in an erroneous attempt to charge the patient directly and subsequent neglectful responses to inquiries, creating an impression of administrative disarray or perceived scamming. Another patient refers to dismissive treatment by a medical professional, Mr. McKinley, following an ankle surgery that did not heal as expected, leading to a loss of trust in the provided medical advice and care. Additionally, feedback suggests an incident of outdated or insensitive hospital equipment—specifically, the call buttons perceived as sexist—although the review indicates that these may be in the process of being replaced. These instances negatively impact the overall patient experience and highlight areas where improvements could be made to align with the otherwise high standards of care and service.

I was at Spire Murrayfield so many times for various health issues over the past couple of years that I lost count of my appointments. I went through everything from MRIs, to various samples and tests, to anesthesia + surgery, talked to wonderful doctors, nurses, pharmacists, reception staff... After all of it, I could not be more convinced of this hospital's fantastic standards and quality of care. Thank you for making me feel at ease and well taken care of throughout. When going through complicated and frightening diagnoses & treatment, it's so reassuring to know you're in competent hands.

As a patient who has used Spire Murrayfield several times in the past through my previous employer's private medical cover, I had a good idea of what to expect about the level of care I'd receive. However, my already high expectations were vastly exceeded during my most recent stay (which was paid for privately, now that I no longer have private medical care through my employer). From the moment of my first consultation and promptly arranged MRI procedure through to the admission, surgical, and discharge procedures, I'm absolutely delighted with my experience. I received an outstanding level of care; the hospital facilities are immaculate (my room and bathroom were spotlessly clean), the choice of meals (and quality of food) was excellent, and the hospital staff are considerate and quiet at night, which meant I was able to get some sleep between having my OBS taken during the night. Every single member of staff made me feel as though I was their only patient; nothing was too much trouble for them, and they took excellent care of me. My surgeon, Mr. Robert Clayton, and my anaesthetist, Mr. Gavin Simpson, were attentive, and provided tailored care. They presumably had other patients yet I, once again, felt as though I was their only patient, and their top priority. Mr. Clayton, in particular, has been on hand to answer questions following my surgery, and has shown such dedicated attentiveness I've never experienced before from a surgeon. Maureen (Mo), who took me to my room and helped me settle in, helped allay my nervousness on the morning of my admission. Emma, the young nurse from Queen Margaret (who was only on days 1 and 2 of placement at the time of my surgery), provided some much-needed light relief, and chatted with me while she took my OBS (yet always remained professional throughout). Debbie, the physiotherapist, explained everything very clearly about wearing my moon boot, and ensured I knew how to move around safely, including how to use stairs when I returned home. Eden, who arranged my discharge, provided me with comprehensive discharge care, and ensured I had all the medications I'd need, as well as a letter for my GP, and a point of contact in case I needed to ask any questions (which I did). The whole team at Spire are exceptional, and I'll confidently return if and when I require private medical care in the future. Apologies to the other amazing staff not mentioned here; they were all wonderful. Spire: please could you pass on my comments and my sincerest thanks to your staff? They deserve to be paid their weight in gold, as the level of care they provide is exceptional, and truly second-to-none. Photos of my meals and me in my moon boot, as they were the only photos I took during my stay.

Terrible. I had an ultrasound scan on my kidneys which was covered by my medical insurance, once I gave my details about the insurance, I was then sent a letter saying Spire will take £500 from my account for the scan, after I emailed them asking why I need to pay since my insurance will cover it, I was then told by Spire that they can't find any of my details on their system?! I have sent them three emails the past three days asking why none of my details are on their system but they are ignoring me. I will NOT be paying you, you are pretty much scamming people at this point.
