West Reservoir Centre's customer reviews analysis

The overall company reputation of West Reservoir Centre appears to be a combination of appreciation for its facilities and natural setting, mixed with critiques on pricing, policies, and amenities. The outdoor swimming and water sports offerings are recurring highlights in customer feedback, with patrons expressing enthusiasm for the experience of swimming in a natural environment and engaging in activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. Notably, the café also receives consistent praise for its quality. However, there is a sentiment that the cost of entry is considered high by some customers, particularly when compared to other local outdoor swimming options like the Heath ponds. The Centre's regulations, such as the mandatory use of color-coded swim caps and the use of floatation devices, are seen as overly restrictive and detracting from the 'wild swim' experience. The obligation to book through an app, which some customers find problematic, adds to the friction. Additionally, the absence of indoor changing facilities and showers post-COVID is a point of discontent, along with concern over cleanliness due to bird droppings near the swimming area.

Positive Feedback

Positive feedback for West Reservoir Centre emphasizes the scenic beauty and the quality of the swimming facilities, with the view during swimming and the overall outdoor experience being particularly appreciated. Customers commend the friendly and helpful staff, easy parking access, and the appeal of the water sports club for children. The water quality is highlighted as clean, and customers who swim regularly see value in obtaining a membership. The café is universally praised for its offerings, contributing positively to the overall experience. Additionally, the Centre is lauded for its safety measures, seen as a necessary aspect of operating an open-water sports facility, signaling a responsible approach towards customer well-being.

Concerns and Threads

Critical feedback for West Reservoir Centre primarily focuses on the high entry fee, which stands out as a significant barrier for some patrons. Comparisons are drawn to other local swimming options that offer lower pricing. Customers express frustration with the Centre's booking system, citing issues with the app required for reservation. The Centre's policy of mandatory specific swim cap colors and the use of floats is seen as an undue limitation by those seeking a more natural swimming experience. Negative reviews also mention the absence of previously accessible indoor amenities such as changing rooms, showers, and lockers, which customers find inconvenient. Lastly, concerns about environmental hygiene due to the presence of bird droppings near the swimming area raise questions about sanitation and health safety.

Nice enough place but £11 for a swim, and you can’t pay on entry (you have to book through the terrible Better app) is a bit steep. Heath ponds are nicer and only £4. Way too many rules - you have to wear their colour swim caps (no black swim caps allowed for some reason) and they make you swim with a float. They even make you get in and out of the water in one place. All feels a bit restrictive. Fine but about as far from a wild swim as you can get. Cafe is great, will be back for that. If visiting London and want an outdoor swim, skip this place and go straight to the Heath ponds.

This is one of my favourite places in north London. I can never get enough of swimming here - it’s lovely. The views while swimming are gorgeous. It’s a bit pricey though and you need to book ahead - but well worth it. Parking is very easy - there’s always plenty of space. And there’s a great little cafe for after your swim. For kids there’s also the watersports club which is very popular and well worth it
